During the last decades wind power has been increased drastically and 2023 it covered 18.2% of all electricity consumed in Finland. It is the 3rd biggest source of energy.

When considering the purchase of a wind turbine(s), the most important thing to do is the preliminary profitability study on that area where the wind turbine is intended to be installed. The profitability of the investment depends primarily on two main factors:

Wind speed and frequency of windy days. Finnish Meterological Insititute prepares windmaps from which the historical annual wind rates are available. Best locactions are typically open areas, where wind can accelerate without obstacles for example islands, lake sides, fields and any open areas without tall trees or the like. Wind speeds are higher the higher the altitude, there for on top of a hill is a good location.
